The most equitable of sport, shooting at HESA is open to both men and women alike, young and old, and most forms of disability can be accommodated.

Herts & Essex Shooting Association is a shooting club for all shooting disciplines.

We shoot .22, Airgun, Black Powder and Gallery calibres up to 25m indoors and 50m outdoors, Full bore calibres  up to 1200m at military ranges. Shotgun Clay Pigeon at dedicated HESA shotgun facility; Historic firearm lectures and shoots.

The main range, situated between Chelmsford and Braintree, is an indoor 25m range. Outdoor ranges accessible to members include the military ranges at Cambridge, Thetford and Colchester, and a Private 50m range at Andrewsfield, near Braintree.

Members can shoot sporting rifles, gallery rifles, .22 rifles, Muzzle Loading Black Powder (pistols, muskets and rifles) Fullbore target rifles (service rifles, sniper rifles).

Competitive shooting is available in all disciplines but not obligatory

Most Shooting activities take place during weekday evenings and during the day on  Saturdays and Sundays
