HESA Clay Section is run by the members for the members. From the most able clay buster to the novice shooter we aim to provide targets that everyone can enjoy.

We have a good mixture of some of the best clay traps from which we can throw virtually any type of target.

Some of our members shoot at competitions and can challenge themselves with tough targets, whilst for the majority of our member’s clay pigeon shooting is a keen hobby. We try to cater for both types of shooter when we lay the course out.

A healthy dose of competitiveness exists between the Clay Section members, but our main aim is to develop our consistency and make gradual improvements as individual shooters. To this end we measure ourselves against our previous average scores with a view to increasing the percentage of targets hit month on month.

Our Clay Section clubhouse provides us with shelter and warmth, somewhere to prepare food and drink, and a place to meet up at the start and end of a shoot.

Safety is our priority, which we strictly adhere to, and so members are required to use eye and ear protection and are encouraged to wear a hat to protect against falling clay target fragments.

We shoot all year round, and though cold and challenging at times, the location provides shooting in beautiful surroundings and with an abundance of wildlife, both of which we treat with respect at all times.
